  • Job description:

    Florida Music Therapy is hiring a medical receptionist and patient coordinator for our private practice! Come work with a fun, friendly team that serves children and adults with developmental disabilities, trauma, autism and other neuro-varients, veterans and their families, children in foster care, non-traditional family structures, mental health, and others.

    FMT is looking for a friendly, caring, empathic, organized, and solution-oriented person that respects all participants with care, dignity, and value regardless of abilities/disabilities, neuro-types, language, nationality, citizenship, gender, orientation, race, or family structure.     Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

  • - High School Degree or Equivalent

    - Minimum 2 years experience in medical reception

    - Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written

    - Exceptional flexibility, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Medical receptionists responsibilities include:

    • Greeting patients: Welcoming patients and visitors, and letting them know when it's their turn to be seen (friendly and professional demeanor a must!)

    • Scheduling appointments: Keeping appointments on time and organizing specialist consultations (organization a must!)

    • Managing patient records: Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records, including demographic information, medical history, and insurance details (ethics and confidentiality a must!)

    • Handling phone calls: Answering phones and texts, responding to inquiries, and managing communication between patients and healthcare providers (communication skills and comfortability on the phone a must!)

    • Processing Intake Forms: Processing inquiries and intakes, including verifying insurance benefits.

    • General administrative tasks: Monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and ensuring maintenance of the reception area (attention to detail a must!)

    • Assisting patients: Checking in and assisting patients with completing necessary forms and documentation (understanding of basic medical terminology a must!)

  • - Live, virtual, individual, and group sessions with a variety of ages and diagnoses

    - 1099 or W2 employment options

    -1099 direct service rates between $42-$56/hour based on education and experience

    -Indirect/consultative rates up to $26/hour

  • - Provide 22-28 sessions per week

    - Design musical interventions based on therapeutic goals to improve clients’ health, wellness, and/or development.

    - Collaborate with a team of music therapists

  • - Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or higher

    - Completion of an approved music therapy program

    - Certified with the Certification Board of Music Therapists or eligible to sit for your exam

    - Excellent age-appropriate communication skills, both verbally and written

    - Proficient with guitar, piano, voice, and basic percussion

    - Exceptional flexibility, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Florida Music Therapy employs a humanistic and person-centered care model using trauma informed and culturally responsive care. We use these frameworks to assess and address the needs of each client, create a safe, supportive, and accommodating environment, and provide respectful and compassionate care. Participants are engaged in treatment with safety, choice, trustworthiness/transparency, and empowerment. Our participants’ safety, wellness, and dignity are the center of treatment. Clinical techniques and uses are individualized and backed by the current evidence-based trends of research, all pending approval of clients’ choice and informed consent.

    In 2021, Florida Music Therapy served 88 participants. 95% did not pay any out of pocket costs, 5% were on a sliding scale based on income. 0% paid full price for music therapy services.

    Our team consists of 11 music therapists and 5 rotating interns. We work together to be the best music therapists we can be by creating an environment of respect and empowerment and without competition. We meet weekly to troubleshoot issues that arise in our sessions and learn from each other. Each quarter, we meet for a non-musical team building or community service event. We value self-care, community involvement, creativity, education, and team work.
